GUESS WHAT EVERYONE???
That's right....much like The impressions, when it comes to my releases
I just Keep On Pushing...them back that is.
The LETTERS FROM THE LANDFILL compilation is actually getting pretty
close to being done, but won't make it out this year that's for sure. I
am hoping for a mid to late January release at this rate. I have
recordings from The Peels and Shotwell. Abandon and This Is My Fist
still need to get me the cd's of their recordings, though both are
done. Shotwell is the only one so far who has giving me all the artwork
so I am also still waiting for art from 3 of the 4 bands. I do have the
cover artwork done and it looks awesome. Patrick Hynes drew a wonderful
cover for me which if you would like to take a peek at can be viewed by
clicking here.
Amazingly, I now have the recordings from The Dream Is Dead for their
7". It only took about a year to get them, but as is the case with a
great band...better late than never. I am still waiting on artwork for
this release as well and am thinking probably a February release date
at this point, though depending on how things go with the comp and if
Santa feels like being generous this year, it could be a little earlier
or later.
I do have some plans for next year but am going to wait till the end of
the month before I make any kind of announcements as I need to sort out
what I can realistically expect to do financially right now. I think I
am going to put together a small mailing list and maybe send out an
update once a month or so. If you would like to be added to my mailing
list, just drop me a line at dan@leftoffthedial.net with
the subject header: MAILING LIST. I promise the list will not be mass
amounts of spam and your address won't be given out to anyone else. I
will just send out like any show dates maybe and record updates who
know. I will probably just ramble quite a bit too but it will be more
interesting to read than all the home mortage loan and viagra emails
that clog up most of our inboxes.
That's all for now. Go buy the reissue of Pitchfork's EUCALYPTUS album
that Swami put out recently.

This Is My Fist tour dates posted in the shows section.
September, 30, 2003
So....the months have passed and I finally am getting around to a new
update.
First, I finally got an MP3 up for Allergic To Bullshit. Unfortunately
the mp3 had to be made from the 7" itself and not a cd master so it's
not as loud as some of the other MP3's.
The "Letters From The Landfill" LP compilation is finally getting close
to going off to the plants. Unfortunately Allergic To Bullshit had to
drop off as they just couldn't get new songs recorded right now, but
the 650's THE
PEELS will be taking their place. The final lineup for the comp
will be This Is My Fist, Abandon, Shotwell, and The Peels. Each band
will have several songs on the comp and I am working on putting
together a nice booklet too. If all goes well, I want to have this done
by mid November. Things rarely seem to go well with records though so
let's just keep our fingers crossed.
The Dream Is Dead 7" that I have been talking about for the last 9
months is on hiatus. I'm not going to even talk about it again until I
have the recordings in my hands. I still have every intention of doing
it but I really have no clue when it's going to be done right now as
the band has had a lot of setbacks with recording.
I have a few more projects in the works, but right now I am just
concentrating on getting this comp out and once that's done I will get
the details figured out on the new releases and make some announcements.
Thanks to everyone who has been ordering the records. I am getting
close to having to repress the This Is My Fist 7" which is just awesome.
xo,
Dan

Hey everyone....I know it's been forever but I will have an update here
in the next couple of days.
Thanks,

July 12, 2003
The Allergic To Bullshit 7" is here and ready to be ordered. There is a
VERY limited number on clear blue vinyl that won't last long.
The Dream is Dead are recording this weekend. It's finally safe to say
this 7" will really be seeing the light of day in the not too distant
future.
July 4, 2003
Allergic To Bullshit tour dates in the shows section.
June 18, 2003
I finally have the cd's of The Lab Rats/Scissorhands split available
now. Check out the order page for details. Sorry for the delay!
The Allergic To Bullshit 7"s should be available starting June 24th.
The covers are scheduled to arrive on Monday June 23rd and the vinyl
should really be here any day now.
This Is My Fist played a bunch of shows this last month and will be
taking a break for a short stint while Will is away touring with Sharp
Knife.
I don't have much else I can update you on at this time unfortunately.
Natolee will be out of the country for the next month and a half so I
can't promise any web updates for awhile, though I will do my best.
Email me if you have any particular questions and I will get back to
you as soon as I can.
Once again, distros please get in touch if you would like to carry my
releases.
Guerilla Radio by Matthew Collin is a good book to pick up if you are
looking for something to read.
What Makes a Man Start Fires by The Minutemen is an album that has been
on my stereo a lot lately and is worth owning. You should check out the
new Experiments In Audio Rocketry compilation that my friend Steve over
at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records just
released for some acoustic tunes from a bunch of good bands.
Thanks,
Dan

Nothing I write here seems to be correct these days. I try my best to
be accurate with release dates but it never seems to work out just as
planned.
The 7" for Allergic To Bullshit is at the pressing plant and I just
picked up the artwork for the cover today. I'm expecting test presses
within a week or maybe two. It looks really cool and if everything goes
well I should have this record in maybe 3 weeks or so.
The Dream Is Dead artwork is almost done, and for the first time in the
history of my releases, I am going to probably have artwork before the
records are pressed. The band hasn't recorded yet but are going to
really soon. Band members having kids (ok so their wife actually "had"
the kid), blown amps, and other events have kept pushing the bands
recording date back. I'm not going to say it will be done in the next
week, but I know they are going to finish as soon as they can.
I have 2 of the 4 bands recordings for the local comp I am working on
that is still untitled. Both the This Is My Fist and Abandon
recordings are awesome and I am really excited about this. I'm going to
guess for maybe a July release for this record, but shit happens so it
might be sooner or later. I'm still working on the title so maybe I
will have that set next time I update.
The cd version of The Lab Rats/Scissorhands cd should be here hopefully
before Friday, but if not, then early next week I believe. As with the
12" version, it will be a one time pressing, so be sure to get it while
you can. I still have a reasonable number of copies of the 12" left but
they probably won't be around for too much longer.
I am really excited about this next project I hope to do. I am
hopefully doing a vinyl version of the Dead Things Because Sometimes
You Just Want To Ride Your Bike To The Show album that was released on
CD by Slave
Records earlier this year. It's a fucking amazing record that has
not left my stereo for the last 3 months. A great mix of This Bike Is A
Pipe Bomb meets Dillinger Four southern punk rock. The band did a tour
of the whole state of North Carolina last summer on their bikes, which
blows my mind. I don't have a super exact date for this but I am going
to do my best to have it completed before the band embarks on their
summer tour this year. The dates aren't up yet, but the band will be
touring throughout July so check out
http://www.slavemagazine.com/deadthings and hopefully the
tourdates will be posted as soon as they are completed.
I have never really mentioned distros that my releases are available
through because up to this point it has been pretty minimal, but you
can now get Left Off The Dial releases through Choke , Ebullition, No
Idea, Revelation, Sound Idea, and a good number of awesome local D.I.Y.
distros throughout the U.S. , Canada, and Japan. If you have a small
distro and would like to carry my releases, please get in touch.
April 7, 2003
Alright, so The Dream Is Dead EP is underway finally. The band is planning
to record at the end of April for their ep entitled Type-O-Negative. It
looks like Ryan Patterson of the band Black Cross will be doing artwork for
the release so expect a great looking release. Be sure to check out the
band's site for updates.
Allergic To Bullshit have started on the artwork for their EP as well, so
both these records should be out around June, I think.
The colored vinyl of the This Is My Fist 7" is completely sold out. There are plenty of copies left on black vinyl, so please keep ordering.
Distros, please get in touch if you are interested in taking copies.
March 26, 2003
Another month since my last update so there is plenty to say.
First off, The Lab Rats have sadly called it quits. They played their last show in San Francisco a few weeks ago to a very enthusiastic crowd. The highlight of the show was probably watching someone stagedive facefirst into tracklighting hanging from the low ceiling. Although I will miss seeing this band, Connor is now playing in the local hardcore band Treason and Will is still going strong with This Is My Fist, so you can still catch the kids rocking out regularly.
This Is My Fist just returned home from their tour with Fourth Rotor and it went really well. The band made a lot of friends, sold all their merch, and can't wait to hit the road again. I believe they will be playing at the Anarchist Bookfair next Saturday in Golden Gate Park so go check it out if you can.
I'm happy to announce a new release that is in the works, which is a 7" from Allergic To Bullshit. A2B feature Iggy and Ivy of the great band Miami and you also may have seen an issue or two of Iggy's SCAM zine. The songs are awesome punk rock and we should have this in the works really soon.
Another release I have started working on is a local 4 band split compilation. The record doesn't have a name but will feature This Is My Fist, Shotwell, Jake Filth's new band Abandon, and hopefully Allergic To Bullshit. There are still a lot of details to be worked out here but I am hoping to have this out by summer.
The Dream Is Dead still need to record for their 7" but I'd rather wait than have them put songs together they aren't happy with. I'm thinking this isn't too far off, but no release dates yet.
It's 1:30am now and I just worked 13 hours today so I need to go rest. I will try to have an update again in the next few days to add anything I forgot here.

Here's the scoop kids:
This Is My Fist's EP is out and people seem to love it, which is always nice
to hear. Please do what you can to spread the word as I have plenty of copies
sitting in my room. The band has a show this weekend and next weekend and
then will probably take a little break until March, when they will do a short
tour with Fourth Rotor from Chicago. The band recorded a few new songs
recently which sound awesome and I'm hoping will end up on a project I am
starting to work on. More to come on this front soon.
The Dream Is Dead are still working on the songs for the EP I am going to do,
so while there is no real set date when this will be out, it shouldn't be too
far in the future. I'm sure it will end up being worth the wait as this band
kills.
Before The Fall also are a little behind on when I originally thought their
EP would be out. A line-up change and problems getting a recording date
unfortunately pushed this back until they get back from their winter travels.
I'm sure this will still get done in the next few months, I just can't say
when for sure.
The Lab Rats keep secrets. I'll let you know when there's news. The colored
vinyl for the Lab Rats/Scissorhands split is long gone. You snooze, you lose.
Black vinyl is still available.
Scissorhands will be recording anytime now for their full length on
Substandard Records that I believe is scheduled to be released in May. You
can always find out more on their doings at www.scissorhands.org.
I have more stuff I am working on right now, but I'm not announcing anything
until I'm sure about the details. I've found it's real easy to offer to
release way more stuff than you can afford, so I'm doing my best to not get
in over my head. I just bought a new computer today, so while it will be
great in the long run, it isn't helping me catch up on any bills.

The covers for the This Is My Fist 7" are here. I just folded and stuffed about 200 copies of it. Order away!!!!
Thanks,
Dan
December 12, 2002
The vinyl for the This Is My Fist 7" is here, but as was the case with the Lab Rats/Scissorhands split, the covers are not. Lesson learned from these first two releases: Don't send off music to be pressed until you have the artwork in hand or you will sadly have to stare at vinyl for weeks waiting for covers. That said, according to Imprint, the covers will be here on Thursday so look for the ep at the show on Saturday. This Is My Fist will be doing a tour with the band Fourth Rotor from Chicago in the spring, so check back for updates.
Before The Fall should be heading into the studio next weekend to record if everything goes well. The band has been playing a lot of shows this last month and will be taking a break for most of December while a couple members go off and see the states. Hopefully some of you were able to see them this past weekend at both Gilman and at Mission Records. The Mission show was a benefit for the record store who is in some dire straits financially right now. Mission Records is one of the only places in SF that has been having consistent all ages punk shows for quite a few years and really needs help. The store has gone through ups and downs and unfortunately hasn't really been able to recover from some bad luck. The record store never did that well and the shows don't really bring enough money to help stock the store properly so it's sort of a vicious cycle. Any help people can offer, be it financial donations or maybe donations of records you don't need anymore would be very much appreciated. Mission Records is located at 2263 Mission Street in SF and can be reached at 415-285-1550.
The Dream Is Dead should be recording in about two weeks for a split release on Happy Couples Never Last records. There is a small chance they will be recording for the ep I am doing at this time, but most likely won't record for that until January. The band is playing a few shows in Indiana and a festival in Ohio in December so if you are in the area, go see them and get destroyed. Check out www.thedreamisdead.com for dates.
I don't have a whole lot of updates on The Lab Rats right now, but if anything exciting pops up I will post it here.
Scissorhands are going to be recording their first full length record for Substandard Records next April. I'm really happy to see the band getting an album recorded. Look for them to hit the road next year in support of this album. There are some new dates in the shows section so check that out. After December, the band will be taking a break to write the new record so get your fill now.
Thanks to the people who have already ordered the This Is My Fist ep, the records will go out next weekend.
There are a couple of new links on the links page.

Once again, it's been awhile for any kind of update.
Well, the test pressings for This Is My Fist arrived last week and sound good so I am expecting that if all goes well, the 7" should be completed by mid to late November. If you wanted to go ahead and preorder it, go for it, and I will send them out as soon as they are done. Come check out TIMF at the Tragedy show, Dec. 14 at Gilman. It should be a great mixed bill.
I will hopefully have Before The Fall recordings before the year's end and their 7" completed by mid to late January if all goes well. Before The Fall will most likely be playing the Sharp Knife/Trial By Fire/City Of Caterpillar show on November 29 at Gilman but I'm not 100% sure yet. You should go to the show regardless.
I'm really excited to announce my newest plans for a 7", which will be with The Dream Is Dead, who are an amazing hardcore outfit from Indiana. Myself and about 70 other kids had the good fortune of being blown away in August by this intense hardcore quartet on their short West Coast tour with Find Him And Kill Him. I have been listening to their 12" on a very regular basis since then and couldn't be happier to do an EP. Look for this release to be out in the early part of next year.
That's all for now.

Check out a track from the upcoming This Is My Fist EP on the audio page.
September 19, 2002
I just got the final mixes for the This Is My Fist 7" on Monday. Everything sounds super and it will be heading off to Aardvark to be mastered this Friday. This is one of the best 7"s I have heard in a long time. Classic East Bay punk rock that fits somewhere in the vein of The Avengers, Naked Raygun, and Green Day. The band recorded with Zack Ohren, who also recorded The Lab Rats side of the split I released, and he did another fine job. I need to get this out of my hands and off to the plant because it's all I'm listening too right now. I will try to have an mp3 up fairly soon for this release. There will be a limited pressing on color vinyl in addition to plenty of the good old fashioned black vinyl.
Will, who drums for both This Is My Fist and The Lab Rats, is off to school so both bands might not be playing any shows for awhile. I will update the site as soon as I hear of anything coming up.
Scissorhands are playing a show on October 19 at 924 Gilman with For The Crown and Ten Grand (who used to be The Vida Blue until some member of Phish decided he needed that name for his band) so it should be a fun mixed bill. Also check out the next issue of Destroy All Monthly for a Scissorhands interview.
That's all for now,
Dan

August 19, 2002
Finally!!! The record covers for the split 12" arrived from Dorado Press on Monday. It took forever to get them, but was well worth the wait as they look amazing. Order away!!!
What does the future hold?
I currently have two new releases planned and possibly a CD version of the Lab Rats/Scissorhands split. The first 7" I will be doing is from a band called Before the Fall. BTF are a great punky poppy band in the vein of Crimpshrine and many other wonderful East Bay classics. They have been rocking the East Bay for a little under a year and have a cool demo tape available from Risk. The next 7" after that will be from another local favorite, This Is My Fist. TIMF is an amazingly catchy group featuring punks who have done time in Ambition Mission, Shotwell, and The Lab Rats and just finished a short tour with Memento Mori. If you can, come check out This Is My Fist at the From Ashes Rise/Manifesto Jukebox show on September 13. Both of these bands rock and I can't wait for them to record. I will post more info on the upcoming releases as I figure it out. I hope to have both out before the year ends, but that may be a little optimistic.
Until next time, go buy the awesome reissues that Reflex records is putting out these days, like Jerry's Kids, DYS, Negative FX, and Government Issue.
Take Care,
Dan

New Scissorhands and Lab Rats shows added.
June 10, 2002
I want to thank everyone who came out to the release show on Friday and made it such a huge success. A little over 300 kids came out to support the bands and bought almost 70 copies of the new split, which was amazing. It seemed like everyone had a great time and Scissorhands will hopefully be able to replace some of their equipment with the money that was raised at the show.
There may not be a whole lot of new updates for the next few weeks as Natolee is going to Hungary and I really haven't tried updating much myself. This news update is my first attempt. I will do my best to let people know when the new covers arrive, and of any upcoming shows, but if you come to the page and it looks screwy, I apologize, but it will be fixed eventually.
Thanks,
Dan
May 31, 2002
Alright, so the site is finally up. I know it's a lot later than I had hoped for but I unfortunately have been a little overwhelmed with work and was slow with getting all the materials to my friend Natolee who has been kind enough to do this whole site.
The real covers should be here in about three weeks. There is going to be an extremely limited number of copies of this record on clear red vinyl. I'm serious about the small amount. The pressing plates broke near the end of the run so there are only 65 copies total and half of them are going to the bands. I will be selling the remainder through mailorder and it will be a first come first serve basis and a limit of one per person as I want as many people as possible to have a chance at one.
Don't forget the release show at Gilman next Friday. I'll try to have more updates soon but I'm running late.
Thanks,
Dan
April 27, 2002
The Lab Rats/Scissorhands
split 12" is nearing completion. I received the test pressings
from United last Wednesday and they sound great. The artwork has been
a little slow in the making but was finally placed in my hands last
night. The original person who was going to do the cover was taking
too long, so Scissorhands's friend Danny leapt to the rescue and put
together a really nice cover on short notice. It doesn't look like
the covers will be done in time for the release show, so we will probably
have some limited screened covers for the big hoopla. If you want
one, you will have to find your way to the record release show.
The date has been
