We Radiate!
The Black Rainbow 7" is near completion. It should have been done last week but unfortunately some problems with the pressing plates led to the first test pressings being rejected and I'm waiting for new plates and test presses as we speak. I'm hoping they will arrive this week or early next and hopefully I'll have the records in hand within 2-3 weeks. It's a bummer of a delay as the band left for tour last Friday, but we all decided it was more important to have a record that sounded good, rather than approve a pressing that we were a little unhappy with.
The covers are all done and you can check out the full color glory here:

You can check out the other Black Rainbow 7" that did make it in time for the tour, released by the great folk over at Thrillhouse Records.
As soon as this project is finished up, the Nothington lp is next on the list and is currently just waiting on some artwork.
Also, on the "I am an idiot" note. If anyone has a spare copy of the This is My Fist ep on red vinyl or the Allergic To Bullshit ep on blue vinyl....sell me a copy. I discovered last month that I never saved a copy of either of these for myself. Whoops.
More soon....

ALL IN!
That strategy didn't pay off at the Punk Rock Poker Tournament in Vegas this year, but Bay Area fans will recognize All In as the outstanding full length CD released by Nothington last year. This has been a CD only release put out by the great folk over at BYO Records, and I figure it's time they had a proper vinyl version. Details are still being worked out, but expect this to arrive in the next couple months. Nothington have been one of my favorite bands to pop up in the Bay Area scene over the last few years and I'm really stoked to be able to release this on vinyl.
If you haven't picked up their 7" I put out last year, you should grab a copy while I have some left. If you are in the Bay Area the next few weeks, you can catch Nothington live the following dates:
Feb 17 @ 924 Gilman with Shook Ones and Hour of the Wolf
Feb 24 @ Thee Parkside w/Jon Snodgrass (Drag the River) and King City
Mar 21 @ Bottom of the Hill w/Dead to Me & Teenage Bottlerocket

ONE FOR THE ROAD
As many of you have already discovered, the Nothington 7" has been out for a couple weeks now. I have updated the order and catalog pages with the pertinent information and also added a somewhat low quality mp3 to the audio page so you can check them out if you haven't already. There is a limited quantity of the 7" on grey vinyl available on a first come first serve basis. LIMIT 1 PER PERSON. If you order more than one copy, the others will be the black vinyl version. The band recently did an interview for the Sound Scene Revolution podcast, which you can check out here.
Nothington are also headed out on their first tour. Below are most of the dates, but please be sure to check their site www.nothington.com for the most up to date routing on this tour. By the time this tour starts, they should also have their debut album "All In" out on BYO Records as well, so be sure to pick both up at the show and support them.

STILL OUT OF STOCK
Unfortunately both the Allergic to Bullshit and This Is My Fist 7"s are out of stock through me right now. I will hopefully have both repressed in the next couple of months, but am really strapped financially right now so it may take a little longer. Copies of this record may still be available at the distros I just listed above. I sent my last 50 copies of the TIMF 7" to No Idea last month.
Lil' who?
The Lil' Runt record is closer to completion than it's ever been. I finally got artwork from the band and the covers should be done within the next month. I can't wait to make this available to you all.
That's all I got for now. Just got back from a great few days in Vegas at the punk rock bowling tournament and am still trying to recover. I also am moving at the end of the month so finding a new place to live and preparing for all that is taking up a lot of my time. Keep on keepin' on.

GOODBYE BURRITO BRIDGE
So the Lil' Runt 12" is done.....JUST KIDDING. Of course it isn't. I have 500 records and 500 inserts sitting in my bedroom, but still no artwork from the band for the cover yet. I left messages for Eggplant and Julia and now with most of the band back in Oakland, I think they can get it together fairly soon. I'm hoping the reality of having everything except covers right now will expediate the artwork. I'll probably put up an mp3 in the next few days so those of you that have been waiting forever can finally get a sample. I'm really stoked on how well everything has turned out so far and can't wait to finally get this out to everyone else.
ROB THE BAND
Believe it or not, I have another 7" coming out soon as well. I'm stoked to be putting out the debut 7" from San Francisco's own Nothington. They are a pretty new band but recorded a few fucking awesome demo songs several months ago and already have plans for a full length to be released on BYO Records next February or March. Guys in the band have done time in Try Failing and Tsunami Bomb, but Nothington doesn't sound anything like their past projects. No frills, country influenced punk rock is what you will find. Pour a little bit of Alkaline Trio, Social Distortion, and Leatherface into a 40oz. and drink it down. I've listened to their recordings more than any other record the past month or so and totally love it. You should go check out a track or two on their site in the meantime.
EL FAROLITO
The Hickey lp is still in the works. I will be getting the booklet artwork pretty soon and then just need to get everything laid out etc. and hopefully can have that out early next year.
THIS ISN'T WHAT YOU'LL GET
The Allergic to Bullshit 7" is basically sold out. I think I have like 3 or 4 copies left on blue vinyl for mailorder and that's it. I may repress it, but need to talk to the band first so it could be awhile....if ever.
That's about it for now. I still have plenty of comps and TIMF ep's, so order away. You should also pick up the new Thermals record on Sub Pop. (and the first two as well if you don't have them) Such a great band. Oh, my friend Todd Taylor just put out a great book called Shirley Wins and you should do yourself a favor and pick up a copy from him here: Razorcake.org. I bought a copy at his reading last week and have really been enjoying it. Pick up a few of the records from the distro there as well as his taste is pretty impeccable.
Still here, doing it for the kids...

Haha. Well, at least I didn't wait a whole year to update. I've been busy but am still here. I am keeping this short and sweet. The Lil' Runt 7" has turned into a 12" and is currently at United getting pressed. This shit is finally happenening yo! It's awesome and if you love the East Bay punk scene and most of what I have released on my label, you are going to LOVE this record. I believe it's tentatively titled Goodbye Burrito Bridge, but the final word will be in when the band hands me the cover artwork. I'll try to put up an mp3 soon so you can get anxious. I hope to have the completed records in hand in less than a month, and will keep you updated. The band members should start drifting back to the East Bay from acrosss the country in the next few months and I hear a Lil' Runt summer tour may be in the future.
I will have some pretty exciting news about my next 2 or 3 releases to announce in the next week or so, but I suggest you keep tabs on my good buddy Stevo's 1234 Go! Records site for more info. I hope to be doing the vinyl reissues of some stuff he is compiling and rereleasing on cd soon. All I can say for now is that the naked cult shall rise again.
The Allergic To Bullshit "You and Me, This is What We're For" 7" is almost sold out. I have about 50 copies left and they are slowly but steadily trickling off to happy mailorder fans. Order soon or you may miss out forever. I also picked up a few more copies of the "Train I Ride" 7" from Iggy last time I saw him, so drop me a line if you want to order a copy.
Did you know that the U.S. Military and Punk Rock have a lot in common? According to an article published a few months ago in the Defense AT&L Magazine (related to the Department of Defense), "Punk's ideological stand against the pursuit of illicit personal gain is virtually identical to the Air Force's Second Core Value." Wow!!! I guess when Fear were singing "Let's Have a War" they were really just trying to prepare all of us for careers in the military. If you want to read the full article and then drop a cinder block on your head, head on over to http://www.dau.mil/pubs/dam/07_08_2005/qua_ja05.pdf (just cut and paste the address into your browser.
I swear I will post another update soon. Really. For real.

I'm back and ready for your orders again! Spending nearly a month in Spain was pretty much the best thing I've ever done and I highly recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity. Actually, just make the opportunity happen!
Just one or two announcements this time. Last I heard, Lil' Runt finally finished mixing their recording this last Friday night. A couple of scheduling mishaps, and an accidental erasing of an entire vocal session pushed everything back a bit, but that shit is in the can now! I haven't heard the recording yet, but should have a copy in a few days.
I gave in and set up one of those Myspace pages for the label. Be a pal and help spread the word and add the label to your buddy lists by going here: myspace.com/leftoffthedialrecords. I'll update that page as well as the site and maybe there will be special offers over there once in awhile.
I haven't picked up too many other records lately, but suggest you try picking up a copy of the new Mountain Goats lp "Come Come to the Sunset Tree". It's a vinyl only release of alternate renditions of his latest album and every record has a unique hand made cover. Aquarius Records in SF had some copies but they are going fast. There's a great compilation out as well called Konton Damaging Ear Massacre which was released on Crust War records and features some devastating hardcore from bands like Framtid, Zoe, Laukaus, Poikkeus, Kruw, and more.
Stay punk!,
Dan

IMPORTANT NOTE: Left Off The Dial mailorder will be closed until May 16, 2005 as I will be out of the country and unable to send anything out. If you have already sent in your order, it should get shipped before I leave.
Please order from my good friends over at www.littletype.com in the meantime as they have all my releases in stock, are great people, and will be happy to take your order and ship it in an expedient manner.
Lil' Runt are still working on securing a recording date and will be a little later than I originally hoped for as far as a release date is concerned. (seems to be a common theme with my releases) I'll post here as soon as I have any updates on this release.
In the meantime, go out and pick up the new Yellow Pills: Prefill cd compilation that was just released, for a great sampling of lost power pop gems. Feel free to email me any travel tips or must see sights for the Spain/Portugal area.
See you in a month....as long as I don't get shanked in Morocco.

Well it's about time! I am happy to announce my next release will be an ep from the East Bay's own Lil' Runt. I haven't been feeling super posi on local bands or "the scene" lately but thanks to the urging of one of my roommates to attend a house show with her about a month ago, I was reminded of what I love so much about this area. Lil' Runt were exactly what I needed and the night of 40 or so drunk folks crammed in a basement rocking out on a Thursday night, to the dismay of the neighbors, definitely got me stoked again.
Lil' Runt are Julia, Ben, Robert, and Sweettooth. They remind me of classic east bay punk rock and I'm looking forward to getting their ep out as soon as I can. We are still working out the logistics, but I think late spring is hopefully a somewhat realistic time to expect the release.
Pick up the last issue of Maximum Rock'n'Roll and the current issue of Razorcake for reviews on the Letters From The Landfill compilation. Here is the one from Maximum and I'll throw up the Razorcake one as soon as I have a chance to type it out.
V/A - "Letters From The Landfill" LP
Okay first off the fucking THIS IS MY FIST tracks on here are
quite possibly some of the most powerful punk songs i've
heard in sometime -- "Yank Fiction" alone just sends chills up
and down my spine. I'm not even joking by they remain one
of the best, most powerful, melodic punk-with-a-capital-P
bands to come from the Bay Area in years. Annie's potent
barbed vocal stylings and insightful lyrics are supported by
the equally compelling driving, melodic punk attack.
SHOTWELL comes up next and they continue to crank out
t
the totally raw snotty tuneful punk that they are known
for - heartfelt with Jummy's trademark snarl and well
constructed lyrical imagery. ABANDON were a too short
lived band that played complex, rythmatic and moody
hardcore that always made me think RUDIMENTARY PENI
in their lurching songs. Closing out the comp are the PEELS
(who just changed their name recently to the TADPOLES)
who play one super long song - very indie, very DINOSAUR
JR influenced, very layered and complex - about burning
their hometown of Milbrae to the ground. All in all a totally
great comp that provides a cool snapshot into a portion of
the Bay Area scene. (MT)
Check back for more info on Lil' Runt soon.
Thanks,
Dan

Not much to say today. After almost 2 months I figured out the problem that was causing all my text to be destroyed when I attempted to update so I figured I should finally at least poke my head in here.
Alternative Tentacles Mailorder has started carrying Left Off The Dial releases which is great. I know a lot of people who have sort of written off Alternative Tentacles for putting out such weird stuff over the years, but you should do yourself a favor and check them out again. Over the last 3 or 4 years they have put out a whole bunch of solid records. I suggest picking up the Articles Of Faith, Los Olvidados, Drunk Injuns, and Mentally Ill reissues along with the new albums from Ludicra, The Evaporators, The Phantom Limbs, Fleshies, Ex-Girl, and The Flaming Stars
I don't currently have any plans of new releases on schedule right now. It may change soon, it may not, who knows. I'm not feeling particularly inspired by anyone in particular these days. I'm sure something will come along soon enough. I do have a ton of non label records that I will be selling off soon. Some from distro, some from trades, some of my own collection. I will probably post the list here when I have it ready, so don't give up on checking back every once in awhile.
Till next time....
August 23, 2004
I think I need to just admit that this site is probably not going to be updated with any regularity. I will try, but everytime I post saying I am going to be more consistent I end up being swamped with life and find the 5 hours of sleep I average a night more important than updating the site. LESS WHINING MORE NEWS.
The Letters From The Landfill compilation LP is now available for order. As usual, it took way longer than expected, but the end result is a fine fine compilation if I don't say so myself. Featuring artwork from classic East Bay punk artist Patrick Hynes (Can Of Pork, Dookie, LookoutRecords mailorder catalogs, etc..), the comp features 4 of the Bay Areas best punk bands around....or not around anymore in the case of Abandon. This Is My Fist, Shotwell, Abandon, and The Peels offer you up over 30 minutes of punk rock shenanigans and the vinyl debut's of both The Peels and Abandon. The comp is $9ppd so please buy them up and get these boxes of records out of my bedroom. Head on over to the audio section of the site to hear a couple tracks from the comp.
The This Is My Fist ep is now back in stock after a short stint out of distribution. This ep sold like hotcakes and definitely warranted a second pressing as it's one of the best records out of East Bay in years. In addition to 4 songs on the comp I just put out, they have a song on the To The Bitter End compilation, available on Vine Hell Records, and are working on a split ep with Giant Haystacks that you will need to contact the band to find out more info for. Head on over to www.thisismyfist.com for the latest news in their camp.
Not much else to report at this point. I just sent out a couple of huge boxes of restocks to both No Idea and Ebullition so you can find all my releases there as well as ordering directly from me.
I am looking to do a site redesign in the next few months, so if you have any ideas, drop me a line.
If I haven't mentioned it before, click forward to Little Type Mailorder to find a great selection of Bay Area and Midwestern punk and pop along with some great cartoons and other fun stuff from my friends Pat and Erika.
My birthday is on Thursday, so feel free to send me greetings and mix tapes or cash filled Kinkos cards.
Adios para ahora,
dan
May 23, 2004
Hmm.....So it's been five months now since my last update. Awesome!
Ok I apologize for the lack of info/news on here lately. My life has
been through a bit of a whirlwind the last few months and sadly working
on my label fell low on my list of priorities. I think there was a
point I wasn't sure I wanted to even keep doing the label after all the
back and forth with one release that looks like it isn't going to
happen at all now anyway, but as of today I am back on track to get
shit moving.
First item: This Is My Fist's 7" is temporarily out of print. DO
NOT SEND ANY ORDERS AT THIS TIME FOR THIS EP. Any orders that were
already sent will have gone out by Monday, but seriously I have ZERO
copies left after that. I recommend trying Ebullition or No Idea until I get more in
stock. Both distros cleaned out most of my remaining copies with their
last orders. I will be repressing this, but probably not for a little
bit as I am pretty broke and have just enough money to get the comp lp
out which needs to take priority. I may just go into more credit card
debt though to get this repressed sooner than later and will be sure to
post any updates if I decide to do so. Once again though, PLEASE DON'T
SEND ANY ORDERS AT THIS TIME FOR THE EP.
Second item: Letters From The Landfill......the compilation.....the
saga....the epic......the record that has taken way too fucking long to
see light of day. At first it was the bands fault because a few of them
were slacking with getting me shit. Now it's my fault though as I have
everything as of this weekend from all the bands. (At least the Peels
are supposed to have it in my mailbox by today and if they don't they
are S.O.L. in regards to art.) I am going to probably have everything
laid out by the middle of this week and will have it off to the presses
ASAP. The record is great and I am a douchebag for taking so long to
get it pressed. If you want to start sending in orders for the comp it
will be $9ppd and I will ship them as soon as I get everything here,
which I am estimating about 4-6 weeks but maybe sooner if I am lucky.
Third item: The Dream Is Dead ep. Well I still have the music, still
don't have the art. I am dragging on this one admittedly because I
don't have the money right this moment to press it but I would like to
definitely get it out this summer. Clark, if you read this...send me
some art!!!!!
Fourth item: The future. Certainly not so bright that I am wearing
shades, just more of a mild glimmer at this point. I have one other
release that I would like to do and will announce it when it's more of
a reality. After I have all this stuff out, I don't know what will be
next. I'm sure I will find something I want to put out, but I also
would like to maybe work on paying off some of the several thousand
dollars of debt I have got myself into before embarking on a whole new
wave of it. I may be a little down right now, but definitely not out.
Fifth item: Fun stuff..... Some friends are starting up a new paper you
should check out called The Dawn.
Fans of raw and dirty high energy garage rock should check out
Chicago's finest Shit
Sandwich Records. If you are looking to kill some time at work I
recommend heading over to The
Kingdom Of Loathing. Records that have kept my turntable warm
lately....No Hope For The Kids "Das Reich" ep, Fourth Rotor "Sieze" lp,
Johnny Cash "American IV: The Man Comes Around" lp, The Thermals
"Fuckin A" lp, Career Suicide "s/t" lp, Forward "While You Alive" lp,
Gunmoll "Board Of Rejection" lp, Tyrades "I Am Homocide" ep, Paintbox
"Cry Of The Sheeps", The Orphans "Everyone Loves You When You Are Dead"
lp. Check any of those out and I doubt you will be disappointed.
Please sign up for my mailing list using the instructions from my last
update. I haven't sent anything out yet on it, but plan to get that in
gear as well son.
Thanks for your support,
dan
